Love, Loss + Storytelling: Nov - Dec 2018
Have you lost your way? Your shoes? Have you lost a parent? A job? Your mind? Your identity? Your one true love? Starting November 7, I will be teaching a 5 week Nonfiction Writing Workshop called: “Love, Loss + Finding Your Story” for foxes in flux who want to put pen to paper and do some rigorous free radical deep diving into the recesses of their imagination. We will explore — through writing and workshopping exercises — how to abandon creative inhibition and embrace your authentic voice. We will read essays, short stories, poems, transcripts and excerpts by Mary Gaitskill, Isabel Allende, Cheryl Strayed, Maya Angelou, Hannah Gadsby, Pearl Cleage, Arundhati Roy, Amy Hempel, Toni Morrison and more. Each week you will be asked to submit a short piece (1-3 pages). All participants’ writing will workshopped. Classes meet Thursday Nights, 7-9, November 8th, 15th, 21st, 29th, and December 6th.
