Crash course memoir writing workshop meeting Wednesdays July 10th, 17th, 24th and Friday the 26th, from 7-9:30 PM in Williamsburg…for all creatives who want to fearlessly dig deep into their psychic recesses + dredge up their hottest, wettest, stickiest, sexiest + most magical of summer memories. We'll be reading essays and stories by Joan Didion and Jesmyn Ward and Marguerite Duras and André Aciman and Joyce Carol Oates and Alice Walker that focus on sexual desire, intimacy, shame, identity, love, lust and more. Each week, you'll be assigned a series of short-form memory prompts and a long-form essay in which you'll explore writing dialogue, creating scenes, moving back and forth in time and using repetition, lists + imagery to design an epic narrative world overflowing with all your darkest, wildest and most repressed wishes and dreams. Be prepared to travel back to the (not so glory) days of your youth, dust off old memories and spin them into storytelling gold. Classes are free of devices, full of cool people, replete with guidance + goodness, focused, fast, furious + guaranteed to inspire, incite and ignite your imagination to the MAX.
