What's Your Story: Apr - Jun 2021
This ten-week zoom workshop is for writers looking to spring into the new season with an innovative new writing practice guaranteed to get to the heart of their stories and give them all the tools + tricks they need to create narrative magic. Using our robust syllabus (featuring articles, short stories, essays, podcasts and books by Alice Walker, Ocean Vuong, Cathy Park Hong, Jesmyn Ward, Raven Leilani, Vladimir Nabokov, Marguerite Duras and more), action partner activities, live lesson plans, writing tenets and memory prompts, you’ll breathe new life into old work or begin new work with a fresh set of storytelling skills. We'll focus on the do’s and dont’s of dialogue, time shifts, creating cultural context, the sacred and the profane, scene versus narrative and the importance of radical empathy when writing characters.
