I Feel Scene (September 19th - November 28th 2023)
I Feel Scene (September 19th - November 28th 2023)
Did you know that the average memoir/novel has around fifty scenes? Do you know that a scene is a unit of conflict whose purpose is to propel your story forward — and fast? In our first ever fall session of I Feel Scene you will learn how to write a compulsively readable scene with a solid beginning, middle and end that will have your reader dying to know what happens next. Each week we will examine contemporary authors' scene-writing style and write our own, talking through the mechanics of dialogue, flow, conflict and character. We will learn to incorporate all the good stuff from the story you are currently working on (memory prompts, time shifts, core wounds, lyrical bangers, etc) without losing the power and poetry of your authentic narrative voice. After all, scenes are the fundamental building blocks of every book — ultimately propelling your POV character toward their transformation. You'll also be assigned an Action + Accountability Partner to work with on a weekly basis. Space is limited, first come, first serve. No previous experience required.
